Memorial Day weekend events in Manatee

What: Tribute to Heroes Memorial Day Parade

When: 5-9 p.m. Sunday

What: Veterans Memorial Park observance

When: 9 a.m. Monday

Where: Veterans Memorial Park on Bradenton riverfront, near Manatee Memorial Hospital in downtown Bradenton

Price: free

What: Florida National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony

The keynote speaker is Maj. Gen. Michael T. Plehn, Principal Director for Middle East Policy. Steve Jerve of WFLA TV News Channel 8 will be master of ceremonies. Joseph Harrin will lead the Hernando High School Band as they perform patriotic music prior to and during the ceremony.

Free admission for active duty or retired military personnel with photo ID. Also good for free admission for up to three direct dependents.

Armed Forces History Museum

Largo : 2050 34th Way N, Largo, 33771

The museum invites families to honor the holiday with rock wall climbing, bungee jumping, a bounce house, military vehicle rides, war reenactors, meet and greets with the Bomber Girls, karate demonstrations and a dance recital.

Price: $10, $5 ages 4-12.
