In Lakewood Ranch, Florida Gov. Rick Scott takes aim at Charlie Crist

Gov. Rick Scott hosted a fund-raiser Wednesday at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Lakewood Ranch.

The fund-raiser was hosted by John Saputo, CEO of Gold Coast and major Republican supporter, at the 160,000-square-foot Gold Coast Eagle Distributing building.

The fund-raiser was sponsored by the Republican parties in Manatee and Sarasota counties. The groups invited supporters from across the state to Gold Coast to spend time with Scott and donate money to his campaign.

The event was closed to the press.

Scott stopped to answer press questions for a few minutes, including talking about his stance on giving $5 million to the IMG Academy, which the legislature approved as part of its $77 billion state budget.

"I just got the budget yesterday, so I'm going to go through it line by line," Scott said. "My job is to make sure taxpayers get a return on their money."
