Bicyclist robbed at knifepoint in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 56-year-old bicyclist was robbed at knifepoint while he was riding his bicycle in Bradenton early Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 1 a.m., the victim was riding home in the 4800 block of Ninth Street East, when an assailant jumped out from behind a bush and held a knife to the victim's throat, according to a news release.

The attacker took an undisclosed amount of money and then ran north from the scene, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was not injured.
