SCF dental program grad performance still perfect
BRADENTON -- The 2014 State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota dental hygiene class passed the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination on the first attempt continuing the tradition of SCF's 100 percent pass rate since the program began 15 years ago.
The class includes: Kayla Bazell, Andrea McBride and Shaina Gormley, Bradenton; Michelle Bellina, Sarasota; Donna Cruzan and Melissa Skinner, North Port; Danielle Golden, Nokomis; and Yuliya Smirnov.
Two Bradenotn students won honors. Gormley took home the Patient Education Award and McBride earned Colgate Student Total Achievement Recognition Award.

Eastbound 26th Avenue lane to be closed three weeks
MANATEE -- The eastbound lane will be closed from 26th Avenue West from Fifth Street West to Ninth Street West from Tuesday, May 27, to June 20, to clean and repair a storm drainage pipe.
This is a Manatee County Transportation Department project, according to Claude Tankersley, director of public works.
