BRADENTON -- Residents in the vicinity of 13th Avenue West and First Street West who have wondered what happened to the proposed grocery store in the Minnie L. Rogers Plaza will get answers at a community meeting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Delays have frustrated residents over the lack of progress since the city held an official ground-breaking ceremony in October 2012 with no further construction taking place on the now-vacant lot since the ceremony.

While monthly updates are provided at the Bradenton Central Community Redevelopment Agency meetings, the CCRA board in April directed Executive Director Tim Polk to schedule the first community meeting in months to update the public.

"It's just an update and to give the history of what has taken place since we did the (request for proposal) going back to 2012," said Polk. "A lot of stuff has taken place and this will be to let the community know where we are now with it and where we are going as far as what's next."

The meeting will take place at the Tropicana Headquarter RTS Building in the

Sunstar A&B Conference Room, 1001 13th Ave. E. Free parking is available in the Tropicana parking lot.

The meeting is open to the public and an opportunity to speak will be provided. Written comments are also being accepted for residents unable to attend, by either submitting them directly to the CCRA at 302 Manatee Ave. E., or emailing Polk at tim@bradenton.com.
