Sarasota man brawls with sergeant at Gecko’s Grill

BRADENTON — A Sarasota man was charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and battery on an officer after he fought with an officer after a disturbance, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Fraser Craig, 46, was arrested at 4:23 p.m. Saturday after an altercation with a patrol sergeant in full uniform at Gecko’s Grill and Pub, 7228 55th Ave. E., Bradenton.

On his break, he sergeant reportedly “heard glass breaking and more yelling” from the bar area behind him. Witnesses reportedly said Craig claimed he was being overcharged. The officer attempted to escort Craig from the premises but he began fighting, according to the report.

Craig reportedly said he didn’t know the sergeant was a cop. Booking information was not immediately available on the sheriff’s website.
