MANATEE -- The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who crashed into two parked cars and mailboxes and then fled the scene Saturday afternoon.

The driver was headed southbound on 20th Street West when it made a right turn onto 46th Avenue Drive West "at a high rate of speed," according to an FHP report.

The vehicle struck a mailbox, then hit the front of a 2000 Subaru Forester parked on 46th Avenue Drive West. The motorist drove between the Subaru and a wooden utility pole, then struck the front of a 2011 Ford van parked in a driveway, the report states.

The driver then continued westbound on 46th Avenue Drive West, hitting two more mailboxes along the way before finally fleeing southbound on 21st Street West, FHP investigators said.

The suspect's car is described as a maroon four-door with tinted windows. It will be damaged on its front and both sides, according to investigators.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Barbara Ehrhart at 239-938-1800.
