Sarasota men charged with passing counterfeit bills

News release from Sarasota County Sheriff's Office:

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested two Sarasota men caught passing counterfeit bills at several area businesses.

Sheriff's Office Detectives had received several reports of counterfeit $100 dollar bills being passed over the last two weeks. Detectives were able to identify Alex Graff, DOB 04/20/94, 321 S. Jefferson Ave, and Eric Gruendl, DOB 02/07/95, 1525 Eastbrook Drive, from video surveillance footage and witness statements.

Alex Graf is being charged with Scheme to Defraud and Eric Gruendl is being charged with Uttering a Counterfeit Bill. Investigators are working with the Secret Service regarding these charges. The instruments used to make the bills were secured and further charges are pending.
