Dick Vitale Gala: Ritz-Carlton, 1111 Ritz Carlton Drive, Sarasota

The 2014 Dick Vitale Gala dinner will be 7 p.m. followed by an after-party featuring The Four Tops, May 16. Collegiate coaching greats Nick Saban, head football coach of Alabama; Tom Crean, head basketball coach of Indiana; and Mike Brey, head basketball coach of Notre Dame, will attend. There will be an auction and prize drawings. Tickets: $1,000. Proceeds will benefit pediatric cancer research at Tampa H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. Walk to Cure Arthritis: Help find a cure by participating in the 2014 Walk to Cure Arthritis fundraiser, beginning with registration 8-9 a.m. immediately followed by a three-mile and one-mile course May 17 at Payne Park, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota. The event will feature activities for the entire family. Pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs. AMI Day Tripper "After The Beach Party": AMI Day Trippers and Friends of Day Trippers are invited to join Duffy's Tavern, 5808 Marina Dr., Holmes Beach, for an "After The Beach Party" 2-5 p.m. May 18. All Day Tripper stickers have sold and it's time to celebrate and donate the proceeds of $600 in form of a check to the Anna Maria Island Community Center. Celebrity Bartender Fundraiser: The Myakka City Foundation will host a celebrity bartender event 6-9 p.m. May 22 featuring Cory Hildreth and Duane Allison of One Night Rodeo at the Lakewood Ranch Polo Grill, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch. There will be silent auctions and prize drawings. All tips will be donated to the Myakka City Foundation. Information: myakkacityfoundation.org.

Anna Maria Island Privateers Inaugural Pub Roll: The Anna Maria Privateers will host an inaugural Pub Roll on the Skullywag beginning at the Drift Inn, 120 Bridge St., Bradenton Beach at 2 p.m. May 24 and continues to Barefoot Tiki, D Coy Duck, Anchor Inn, Cast and Cage, and back to the Drift Inn for a pot luck dinner and party. There will be specials and games at every stop and a free inaugural event T-shirt for the first 50 entries. Tickets: $35. Tribute to Veterans Awards Luncheon: The Jewish Family and Children's Service of the Suncoast, will honor and recognize four veterans at their Tribute to Veterans Service to Community Awards Luncheon at noon May 27 at Michael's on East, 1212 South East Ave., Sarasota. Award recipients include Richard R. Alvarez, SSG, US Army, Christopher L. Davis, MSG, US Army, Andy Hooker, SPC 5th Class, US Army, and John C. O'Brien, Col (Ret.), US Army. Tickets: $45. Proceeds will benefit programs and services provided to local veterans through JFCS's Operation Military Assistance Program. Reservations are required by May 16. Chefs Cooking For Kids: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast will host Chefs Cooking For Kids 6-10 p.m. June 14 at IMG Academy Golf Club, 4350 El Conquistador Pkwy., Bradenton. The "Top Chef" culinary extravaganza will feature local chefs and restaurants that will showcase their culinary specialties providing guests with samplings of their culinary creations. There will be music, a silent auction, prize drawings and a cash bar. Participating restaurants are Charthouse, Jpan, SoMa Creekside, YachtSea Grill, Pinchers, Mrs. Cheesecake, Cody's, Renaissance on 9th, Keiser University (http://www.keiseruniversity.edu), Swordfish Grill and Carmel Cafe.
