Sarasota St. David's Welsh Society: The group meets for a Sunday Brunch 1 p.m. May 18 on Bob's Train, 2211 Fruitville Road, Sarasota. Bob's Train is a real railroad car which is also a restaurant and a circus museum. Host, Bob Horne, will give a brief presentation on Sarasota's circus heritage. Brunch: $10. Smocking Arts Guild of America: The group meets May 28 and every fourth Wednesday of the month at the South Manatee County Branch Library, 6081 26th St. W., Bradenton. The group promotes education and quality workmanship in the fine needle arts including smocking, heirloom sewing, fine machine sewing, fine hand sewing, embroidery and the related needle arts. Swiss-American Club: The group meets at 6 p.m. May 29 and every last Thursday of the month at Saltwater Cafe, 1071 N. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis, for a social gathering called "Stammtisch," where friends meet for a bite to eat and chat about their life experiences. They celebrate typical Swiss events such as Swiss Independence Day on Aug. 1 and enjoy bi-monthly picnics at Oscar Scherer State Park and various other events such as dinners/lunches on specific dates throughout the year. Retired RN Club: The group meets 11:30 a.m. June 2 and every first Monday of the month at Westminster Manor, 1800 21st Ave. W., Bradenton. Manatee Sail and Power Squadron: The group will hold their general membership meeting 7 p.m. June 3 and every first Tuesday of the month at the Palmetto Elks Lodge, 4611 Fourth Ave. E., Palmetto.
