Bradenton man arrested after Walmart bedsheet return

May 15, 2014

BRADENTON — A Bradenton man was charged with petty theft Wednesday after taking bedsheets from a display at Walmart, 5315 Cortez Road, and turning them in for a no-receipt return, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

At 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, 37-year-old Jessie Moreno was observed via surveillance selecting two bedsheets from the display in the domestic department.

Moreno then went to the front service desk where his no-receipt return was processed into a $148.85 store credit gift card, police reported. After the transaction went through, Moreno was arrested by store loss-prevention personnel.

Moreno reportedly admitted to taking the items and committing the fraudulent return, according to the report.

He was booked into jail and released Thursday on $500 bond.
