Considering they're a country band, Lady Antebellum had a non-traditional introduction to the big time. They got their start singing on a hit record by easy-listening artist Jim Brickman.

But right after that, the Nashville trio -- Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley -- started to take the country music world by storm. Their eponymous first album went Platinum and helped them win both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association awards for best new artist in 2008. They were also nominated for the Grammy Award in that category. They've since won seven Grammy Awards and more than a dozen more ACM and CMA awards.

They're bringing their Take Me Downtown Tour 2014 to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre Saturday in Tampa.

Lady Antebellum are country superstars, but the opening acts are no slouches either.

Billy Currington won a CMT Award for Hottest Video of the Year in 2006 for "Must Be Doin' Something Right" and has had big its with "Let Me Down Easy" and "People Are Crazy."

Joe Nichols has scored No. 1 singles with "Brokenheartsville," "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," "Gimme That Girl" and "Sunny and 75."

Details: 7 p.m. May 17, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301, Tampa. Tickets: $40-$68.25. Information: 813-740-2446,
