MANATEE — A Bradenton woman was arrested on a battery charge after she punched another woman over comments made about her online, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 26-year-old Monica Mendoza Apolinar confronted the victim in her Bradenton home about comments the victim made online, according to a report. The argument turned physical when Apolinar punched the victim in the head. The victim punched back, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim’s forehead was bruised and she had a torn fingernail.

Apolinar had a fresh bruise on her left cheek. Apolinar told investigators that although she knew she was going to jail, she should have done this nine months ago when the victim “began talking bad about her," according to the sheriff's office.

Apolinar was booked into jail and released Wednesday on $500 bond.
