Astros place Bass on DL

The Sports NetworkMay 14, 2014

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros have placed pitcher Anthony Bass on the 15-day disabled list because of a right intercostal strain.

The move is retroactive to May 11.

Bass has a record of 1-0 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA in 15 games for the Astros this season. The 26-year-old right-hander, in his first season with Houston after an offseason trade from San Diego, has allowed just a .239 opponents' batting average in 2014.

The Astros recalled pitcher Josh Fields from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill the vacant roster spot.

Fields appeared in 14 games for Houston earlier this season and was 0-3 with two saves and a 12.00 ERA before a demotion to the minors on May 6.
