SARASOTA -- Two crashes Tuesday morning blocked traffic on northbound Interstate 75 in southern Sarasota County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The first crash, which happened at 9:46 a.m., happened near the Clark Road interchange, according to the FHP website.

A dump truck was traveling in the middle lane when truck's left front tire tread separated, causing the dump truck to travel into the left lane, according to a news release.

"The dump truck's left front rim began to dig into the asphalt, causing the dump truck to overturn several times into the grass median," the report states. "The truck was fully loaded with concrete debris, which spread across a large area of the grass median."

The left inside lane was damaged, and it took for several hours for repairs and clean up fuel and oil spilled from the truck, FHP said. As of 1:45 p.m., all lanes of the interstate were reopened.

The 44-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries.

The second crash, reported at 10:29 a.m., happened at marker 202, between Clark Road and State Road 681 in Venice.

At least one person was injured, and the right and center lanes were blocked, according to FHP.

As of 11:30 a.m., the roadway was cleared, according to FHP.

Other details were not immediately available.
