MANATEE -- Two assailants tried, and failed, to rob a woman as she jogged in Bradenton early Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was jogging in the 2300 block of 51st Avenue East, near the Royal Palm Apartments, when two males approached her from behind and knocked her down, according to a news release.

"She believed that one tried to search her person for valuables, but she had nothing on her," the report states. "The two fled the area on foot."

The incident was reported to the sheriff's office when the victim went to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries, which were considered not severe, according to the report.

Deputies searched the area where the attack happened, but suspects were not located, the sheriff's office said.
