Police release name of skateboarder killed in Bradenton crash

BRADENTON -- The name of the 17-year-old skateboarder who died after being struck by a car on Manatee Avenue West has been released by Bradenton police.

William B. Hoover was hit Sunday evening while trying to cross Manatee Avenue West at Palma Sola Boulevard. He died Monday afternoon at Blake Medical Center, police said.

The driver of the car said he was unable to stop before he hit Hoover.
