Jenifer S. Schembri, a principal at Blalock Walters in the firm's tax, estate planning, and business law groups, has received the AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. She is board certified by the Florida Bar in tax law and a certified public accountant. Schembri practices in the areas of individual and business tax planning, entity formations, corporate business and transition planning, charitable planning and estate planning.

Dr. Scott A. Handley of Cortez Foot & Ankle Specialists was recently appointed president of the ManaSota Prodiatry Association, a local branch of the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Richard Berkun was appointed vice president after serving as president for 10 years.

Jessica Stewart has joined the team of real estate lawyers at Berlin Patten. Stewart becomes the seventh attorney in the firm's expanding real estate practice. She practices primarily in the areas of residential and commercial real estate litigation and foreclosure defense.

Stewart grew up in Bradenton and received her bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 2006. She earned her law degree at Florida State University College of Law.

Richard Mallard, a 34-year veteran of the marine and aviation industries, will head the regional office for Mariners General Insurance Group in Bradenton.

Mariners continues to expand its operations around the country. A lifelong recreational boater and career insurance professional, Mallard, a native Floridian, comes to Mariners General Insurance Group having previously managed his own insurance agency with a multimillion-dollar book of business. He has significant experience in the aviation industry, has a strong navigational background, and has always remained well-connected to the Florida boating community.
