— Bradenton's Relay For Life, an overnight fundraising event organized by the American Cancer Society and scheduled to begin Saturday, has been rescheduled for Sunday due to inclement weather.

The announcement was made on the event's Facebook page Friday evening.

The rescheduled event will now begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 4, at G.T. Bray park, with opening ceremonies, followed by a survivor dinner at 1 p.m. and a luminaria ceremony at 9 p.m. The event should wrap up around 10 p.m. Sunday, organizers said.

Heavy rain soaked the fields at G.T. Bray on Saturday, with more in the forecast for Sunday.

There was no immediate word on the Lakewood Ranch Relay for Life, which was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA. Organizers said they were still hopeful Friday the event would go on as scheduled.
