Indians put Kipnis on DL

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians placed second baseman Jason Kipnis on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.

Kipnis is batting .234 with six doubles, three homers and 12 RBI in 27 games this season. This marks his second career stint on the DL.

To fill Kipnis' spot on the roster, the team recalled infielder Jose Ramirez from Triple-A Columbus.

Ramirez was hitting .319 with four homers and 17 RBI in 23 contests with Columbus. He played in 15 games with the Indians last season.
