Manatee deputies rescue 2 kids after parents found passed out from drugs in car

MANATEE -- Deputies on Thursday arrested a couple after they found them passed out from drugs in their running vehicle and their two children in the back seat, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 6 p.m. in the 5100 block of 26th Street East, deputies found the driver, Brandy M. Joule, 32, and Brian Thomas Emery, 31, passed out. They also found drugs and a hypodermic needle in the vehicle, according to a news release.

"Their two children were in the back seat sweating," the report states.

The children were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.

Joule faces charges of child neglect and DUI. She was being held without bond after was she hospitalized.

Emery faces charges of child neglect, drug possession and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. A judge on Friday set bonds totaling $7,000.
