News release Thursday from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office:

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man on drug trafficking charges after finding a significant quantity of cocaine and a large amount of cash in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Shortly after 6:00 last night deputies pulled over a silver Toyota for speeding in the 4000 block of North Washington Boulevard in Sarasota. The driver consented to a search of his vehicle and deputies located multiple bags of a substance that tested positive for cocaine, which weighed more than 115 grams. They also seized $1,700 in cash.

Deputies arrested Oscar Aleman, DOB 1/27/78, 3524 Iroquois Avenue, Sarasota, and charged him with one felony count of Trafficking in Cocaine, since the weight of the drugs was well over the threshold set by statute, which is 28 grams.
