THONOTOSASSA -- Officials said 14 students and two drivers were taken to the hospital following a crash involving a school bus and a truck.

The bus was on State Road 579 near the intersection with Bay Hills Circle when it was rear-ended by another vehicle, officials said.

The students and bus driver were taken to University Community Hospital by ambulance after complaining about neck pain.

Officials said the driver of the truck also went to the hospital but was not taken by ambulance.

The bus was carrying students to Armwood High School.

State Road 579 was shut down in both directions, but it has since been reopened.
