With kids in car, DUI suspect arrested in Bradenton

April 29, 2014

MANATEE — A Bradenton man was arrested and charged with DWI and one count of child neglect at an unspecified section of Third Avenue West, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephen Wilson, 36, was determined at fault in a fender-bender involving two vehicles with no injuries, deputies reported.

A deputy who conducted a DUI investigation at 11:12 p.m. Saturday reported Wilson appeared inebriated.

“His eyes were red and glassy. His face appeared flushed,” the deputy reported.

Wilson told deputies he only had five beers. He reportedly performed poorly on a field sobriety test, according to a report.

The children in his car were belted in, unharmed and “in good spirits,” the report states. A family member took the children.

Wilson’s blood alcohol concentration level was reportedly above .163 or more than twice the .08 legal limit. He was booked in Manatee County jail.

He was released from jail on Monday without having to post bond.
