MANATEE -- A 34-year-old man was beaten and robbed as he was walking into a Bradenton convenience store Monday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 7 p.m. the victim was walking into the K&S store at 3403 15th St. E., when someone yelled slurs at him, then punched him, sending him to the ground, according to a news release.

"The suspect continued to beat the victim before robbing the victim and fleeing in an unknown direction," the report states.

The victim was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and released, the sheriff's office said.
