Bradenton officials investigate relationship between former inmate, detention facility employee

BRADENTON — A child abuse investigation is under way surrounding the relationship between a former inmate and an employee at the Manatee Regional Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

A 17-year-old former male inmate met the 28-year-old female employee while incarcerated at the facility, 1803 Fifth St. W. Police report the inmate developed a sexual relationship with the employee after his release.

Police met with Child Protective Services to investigate if a crime took place. The investigation is ongoing.
