A metal band led by a professional wrestler, a rock band led by a "Gossip Girl" actress, a Danish band that bends rockabilly with metal, and a Christian rock band from Idaho are among the acts slated to perform Friday in Tampa.
The event is the annual 98Rockfest, and it's one of the biggest concerts of the year for hard-rock fans.
This year's lineup has a lot of venerable acts, including some big names and some bands that have had cult followings for many years.
Headlining is Avenged Sevenfold, a metalcore band whose sound has evolved into a blend of metal and punk.
Other bands on the lineup include Volbeat, and eclectic band from Copenhagen; Chicago rockers Chevelle; Southern rock band Black Stone Cherry; Miami favorites Saigon Kick, who reunited a couple of years ago after a long hiatus; the Pretty Reckless, led by Taylor Momsen from "Gossip Girl;" Orlando hard rock band Trivium; wrestler Chris Jericho's band Fozzy; Christian rock band We As Human; Italian Goth band Lacuna Coil; Daytona hard rock/electronica outfit W.E.R.M. and Texas indie quartet Nothing More.
