It's against FL law to leave pet in hot, parked vehicles

April 19, 2014

Please, remind everyone about taking your animals in the car to the store or elsewhere and leaving them. It's against the law to leave your pet(s) in a car.

On April 10 I saw a lady drive into the parking lot at the new Winn Dixie on Manatee Avenue. She had a dog with her.

She rolled the windows down about four inches and the car was in the hot sun. It was very warm that day.

I watched her go in and I waited until she came out. The poor dog was barking and barking.

She was in the store for about 10-15 minutes. When she came out, I said, "It's against the law to leave your animals in the car." She said, "I was only in the store for a few minutes."

I said that I saw her go in and just now coming out.

Please, please, tell them if they love their animals to please leave them at home!

Not too long ago there was a young man who left his little pug dog in the car and it died. So sad!

Animals can't speak for themselves, so we have to speak for them.
