MANATEE -- Someone Friday stole a deputy's gun from a sheriff's office vehicle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:45 p.m., the deputy went to Federal Discount Beverage, 5027 15th St. E., Bradenton, and locked his assigned vehicle before walking inside, according to a news release.

"He returned less than five minutes later and found that his department-issued handgun was missing from a bag on the passenger's seat," the report states.

The sheriff's office said there were no suspects in the theft.
