Manatee County under severe thunderstorm watch

MANATEE — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Manatee and Sarasota counties, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch was issued at 1:50 p.m. as a line of storms moves into the Tampa Bay area. It is scheduled to remain in effect until 8 p.m.

The Weather Service says there is a 60 percent chance of heavy rain Friday afternoon and into the evening.
