April 18, 2014

BRADENTON -- Rogers Garden Elementary School was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a woman went to the school and tried to pick up a child, even though the school did not have her on the approved list for the student, according to Bradenton police.

The incident happened about 4 p.m. Thursday.

"School officials placed the school on lockdown until the situation was resolved," police said in a report. "The juvenile was able to board a school bus and was transported to his residence.

"The female left without further incident once the police arrived," the report states.
