Herald All-Area Wrestler and Girls Weightlifter of the Year

April 18, 2014

Jesse Fulk, jr., Manatee

Weight class: 160

To his credit: Herald All-Area Wrestler of the Year for a second straight year, Fulk set a single-season program record with 59 wins en route to county and district titles and a state runner-up finish in Class 3A at 160 pounds. Fulk earned the first state medal of his career by scoring two first-period pins at state before falling to Kissimmee Osceola's Fox Baldwin in the final. Of Fulk's four losses this year, three came to Baldwin, considered one of the top wrestlers in the country, and the other came to Brandon's Dakota Greene, a Class 2A state champion at 160 pounds.

Fast fact: Fulk has won 160 matches in three seasons at Manatee, giving him a shot to become the first Hurricane to reach the 200-win mark.

Up next: Fulk will be competing in a number of national tournaments, including this summer's Disney Duals in Orlando, in preparation for his final season at Manatee.
