1 injured in house fire in East Manatee

MANATEE -- One person was injured in a house fire in East Manatee early Thursday, according to Southern Manatee Fire Rescue.

About 3:35 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire in the 4900 block of 26th Avenue East. They found heavy smoke and flames showing from a single-story house.

All of the occupants were outside, but one person did suffer minor first- and second-degree burns to their hands, according to a news release. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The house suffered severe smoke, heat and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the report.

The American Red Cross was assisting three adults who were displaced by the fire.
