SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting near Riverview High School that left a man injured.

The shooting happened at a residence in the 5000 block of Lords Avenue.

"The call came in as a domestic situation and then reported possible shots fire," a news release states. "Because of its proximity to Riverview High School, the sheriff's office called for a lock down, but it was quickly cancelled as deputies were immediately able to secure the subjects involved.

Detectives were speaking to a woman involved in the incident, the sheriff's office said.

A man was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

"There was never any threat to the public," the sheriff's office said.
