Photos of halo around the sun over Bradenton

Posted by MARC R. MASFERRER on April 16, 2014

The halo around the sun over Bradenton on Wednesday is basically just a refraction in the light from the sun.

In very high, thin clouds, light tends to be bent by the ice crystals that make up the clouds. Within the crystals, the light is bent about a 22-degree angle, creating a halo around the sun.
