Stephanie Petros, robbery, no bond.

MANATEE -- A 28-year-old woman has been charged with stealing money from a 62-year-old man Tuesday night, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 10:30 p.m., Stephanie Petros went to the man's residence in the 600 block of 59th Avenue Drive West to ask for some money since she had none, according to a news release.

The man began to feel bad for Petros and got out his wallet to give her a $5 bill. While looking for the bill, Petros grabbed the wallet out of his hand, took all the money, threw the wallet down and fled from the home, according to the report.

The man called the sheriff's house.

Responding deputies searched the area for about 30 minutes before they found Petros hiding behind a neighbor's house.

Petros was arrested on charges of robbery by sudden snatching and on a warrant charging her with violating probation. She is being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
