LAKEWOOD RANCH -- A pharmaceutical executive from GlaxoSmithKline has purchased a Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club Village home, adding to a list of national executives in Manatee.

Anna M. Seal, senior vice president and chief financial officer for GlaxoSmithKline's global manufacturing & supply, purchased a 5,351-square-foot home at 13211 Palmers Creek Terrace for $1.63 million from Susan and Clinton Pierce. The four-bed, five- and-a-half bath home was built in 2007 and features a swimming pool and spa.

The Pierces bought the home for $1.95 million in 2007, according to property records.

The pharmaceutical giant makes a wide array of products ranging from weight loss medicine Alli, toothpaste Aquafresh to nicotine gum Nicorette plus prescription drugs and vaccines. Seal's position is based at Research Triangle Park, N.C., between Durham and Chapel Hill, where he is a resident.

The purchase continues Manatee County's noted place for permanent and part-time homes for executives of major companies and their families. Many of those homes are on Longboat Key including those of Michael Kors and the family of a Sherwin Williams executive.
