New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton was named the National League Player of the Week for the period ending April 13.
Upton batted a scorching .591 (13-for-22) with four homers, eight RBI and eight runs scored over six games to help the Braves take four wins for the week. Upton led the majors in homers and tied for first in the NL in runs scored.
It is the third time Upton has taken home the weekly award.
Other players considered were Upton's Atlanta teammate Freddie Freeman, Milwaukee's Ryan Braun and Kyle Lohse, Washington's Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg, Los Angeles' Adrian Gonzalez, St. Louis' Yadier Molina and Michael Wacha and San Diego's Andrew Cashner.
