UNIVERSITY PARK -- Shoppers looking for a spot of tea in the new mall can have their thirst quenched at Starbucks-owned Teavana.

Teavana filed a building permit application Thursday to come to the Mall at University Town Center, set to open Oct. 16.

Teavana has locations in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Brandon including Taubman's International Plaza plus Mall at Millenia in Orlando. Customers will find premium loose leaf teas brewed on the spot and the tins of tea leaves for sell, but the stores are also savvy at selling the high-end loose leaf teapots.

Starbucks acquired Teavana in October and with the acquisition, customers at Teavana can use their Starbucks Rewards card to gain and redeem points. The first Teavana opened in Atlanta and now has more than 300 locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The 880,000-square-foot mall is a Taubman Centers project in partnership with Benderson Development and will feature other food specialty stores such as Oil & Vinegar. The mall, off of Cattlemen Road and University Parkway, will be anchored by Dillard's, Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue and the Apple Store and will bring more than 100 stores on the two-level mall.
