5 arrested in prostitution sting in Sarasota

SARASOTA -- Five men were arrested Thursday during an undercover police operation targeting prostitution-related activity on North Tamiami Trail, according to Sarasota police.

The department's Street Crimes and Narcotics units made the arrests at two different locations, according to a news release.

In the operation, officers were specifically targeting "johns," or individuals soliciting prostitutes.

Two of those arrested were from Sarasota; two were from Bradenton; and one was from Palmetto.
