Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Panthers have signed former Atlanta Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud to a two-year contract.

DeCoud spent the past six seasons with the Falcons, who selected him in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

In 2013, DeCoud recorded 65 tackles over 15 games. The California product registered 375 tackles, three sacks and 14 interceptions in 89 career games with the Falcons.

"Thomas provides a veteran in the secondary who is familiar with the NFC South and has been a very solid player," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. "We are pleased to add him to a safety group that has good experience and production."

The Panthers have also added safety Roman Harper and cornerback Antoine Cason in the past month.
