Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Panthers have signed former Baltimore Ravens tight end Ed Dickson.

The team announced the one-year deal Thursday.

"Ed is a young player who has shown he is a capable blocker as well as receiver in the league," said Panthers coach Ron Rivera. "He provides experienced depth at the tight end position and we look forward to having him in the mix."

Dickson, an unrestricted free agent, played his first four NFL seasons for the Ravens and had 111 catches for 1,178 yards and seven touchdowns in 60 games, including 44 starts.

He had 25 receptions for 273 yards and a touchdown in 16 games this past season.
