Dream Oaks Camp gets $32K grant

BRADENTON -- The Foundation for Dreams and Dream Oaks Camp recently received a $32,500 grant from the Junior League of Manatee County to help assist in the construction of an all accessible playground and new program golf cart.

The Foundation for Dreams and its camp, 16110 Dream Oaks Place, Bradenton, provide therapeutic camping programs for children ages 7-15 with special needs and chronic/terminal illnesses. Family of God UMC Palmetto to host free Easter concert

PALMETTO -- Family of God United Methodist Church, 5601 16th Ave. E, Palmetto, will host a free Easter concert by Sam Lane and friends at 7 p.m. Friday.

The concert will also feature Paul Pitts, renowned tenor; the organ-and-piano duo of Arthur Harvey and Sam Lane; violinist Delphine Feldman; deaf song stylist Betty Gates; and the Praise Team from Family of God Church. Lane, a Sarasota High School graduate, was born blind and began playing the piano man at age 3. He has been dubbed "the Piano Man" when he entertains at churches, restaurants, resorts, mobile home parks and retirement centers nationwide.

The concert will be followed by refreshments.
