Faces in business: Michael C. Fleck

April 9, 2014

Title: Owner

Company: Animal Medical Center of Bradenton

What was the best business advice you ever received?

To blend sound traditional business principles, and hard work of course, with the evolving and developing and contemporary messaging technology.

It was not that long ago practices worked 60-80 hours a week and a big portion of that is the communication with families and their pets. Expanding one's practice is a big issue as well. I also own Epi-Pet, a skin and ear care product line for pets, am co-owner in Dynamic Pet Duo Production, a production company and am co-host of the new Pet Buzz internet radio show.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be?

I would not know what else I'd rather be than a veterinarian. It is a very rewarding profession. It's not only the successful treatment of an animal but also the emotions and rejoicing of the family that owns the pet once the pet is healthy again.

What's the biggest risk you have taken in your career?

While practicing in Michigan I ventured out and tempted a run for the state Senate. I lost by 300 votes.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you start?

For business I'd start in China, because the global culture and influence on the global economy. For vacation I'd start anywhere in Europe and visit all the old countries.
