BRADENTON -- Five people were injured late Monday when the car they were riding in was struck by a car whose driver had run a stop sign, according to Bradenton police.

About 10:19 p.m., a driver on 26th Avenue West ran on a stop sign and stuck two cars traveling on Ninth Street West, according to a report.

Five people -- including 1-year-old twins -- riding in one of the vehicles that was hit were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia; careless driving; and running a stop sign. A passenger in his car was arrested on a charge of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
