A song in your heart will bring calm to a storm

April 5, 2014

I really enjoyed the article in the March 30 Bradenton Herald titled "Legends, newcomers rock," by Kathryn Moschella and the great photo by Tiffany Tompkins-Condie of rock legend Marty Balin.

Marty's smash hit "Miracles," from 1975 with Jefferson Starship, is a masterpiece!

It is refreshing to hear new musical talents from Manatee County -- such as Jake Castro and Sam Woolf, just to name a few.

With so many disasters and heartaches in the world these days, it is music that will bring you back. I know, I've been playing drums since 1967 and am now trying to master that beautiful instrument, the guitar.

As lead singer Eric Burden of the 1960s British invasion band The Animals sang, "You want to find the truth in life, don't let music pass you by."

However, Lawrence Welk said it best: "Always keep a song in your heart."
