For advocates of open government, Manatee County ranks as a shining trailblazer in the matter of easy access to court records.

Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court R.B. "Chips" Shore has been the state's leader in Internet access since 2007, when his pilot program received court approval.

Now Florida's Supreme Court has approved Manatee County's model program for statewide implementation.

Kudos to Shore and his staff for creating easier access to public documents.
