Thirteen marijuana plants and two pit bulls kept in "deplorable conditions" were seized from a Bradenton home Friday afternoon, according to police.

A Bradenton police officer observed the marijuana plants growing in the yard of a residence in the 1100 block of 14th Avenue West, according to a media release.

When they were reportedly denied consent to search the property, police obtained a search warrant. They seized the 13 plants, along with other cultivation equipment and lights, the release states.

Manatee County Animal Services took two caged pit bulls into protective custody after the dogs were found in "deplorable conditions with no clean water," according to the release.

Arrested and charged were Rafael Houston (possession of rock cocaine), Brandon Williams (cultivating marijuana) and Dion Williams (cultivating marijuana). The three men were booked at Manatee County jail, the release states.
