Dodgers activate Matt Kemp

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated outfielder Matt Kemp off the 15-day disabled list.

Kemp had been recovering from ankle surgery performed in October. He appeared in just 73 games last season because of a left ankle injury he initially sustained in July.

The two-time All-Star last played a major league game on Sept. 27 last season and did not take part in the postseason for the Dodgers.

Kemp batted .270 with six homers and 33 runs batted in last year.

The Dodgers optioned outfielder Mike Baxter to Triple-A Albuquerque to open a roster spot. Baxter was 0-for-7 in four games for the Dodgers this season.
