Bradenton police arrest admitted drug dealer after traffic stop

BRADENTON -- A 25-year-old man who told officers "he sells marijuana on the weekends to get money," was arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop, according to Bradenton police. . About 2:11 p.m., officers with the Casual Clothes Unit stopped a rental car driven by Kevin V. Calloway in the 300 block of Ninth Avenue West. As officers approached, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to a report.

A search of the vehicle revealed 33 grams of marijuana, a scale and zip lock-type baggies. Calloway was also carrying a large amount of cash, police said.

After he was arrested, Calloway admitted the drugs and other items belonged to him, according to the report.

Calloway, who has been arrested before on armed robbery and marijuana possession charges, was charged with distribution of marijuana and possession and/or use of drug paraphernalia. He was released from the Manatee County jail after posting bonds totaling $2,000.
